Sankofa Village Apartments (formerly Cedar Extension Redevelopment I & II) is a comprehensive revisioning of the former 15-acre Cedar Extension Estates, a post war, bunker style public housing development which was demolished in 2012. The site is in the Campus District at the corner of East 30th Street and College Avenue. The project meets Enterprise Green Community Standards as well as LEED Neighborhoods Development guidelines.

Phase I – 60 units, $12.4M
Phase I encompasses a four-story structure comprising a 60-unit apartment building, complete with administrative offices, community spaces, service areas, and leasable commercial space. The first floor features a slab-on-grade foundation, while the initial elevated deck is constructed using structural steel, metal deck, and concrete. The subsequent three floors are framed with wood for a comprehensive and functional design.

Phase II – 50 units, $9.6M
During Phase II, 50 townhome-style units were constructed, featuring a diverse range of one to four-bedroom floor plans. This phase represents a blend of market-rate rentals and affordable units, contributing to a well-rounded housing community. The master plan for this expansive 17-acre site not only includes Cedar Phase I but also envisions at least two more additional phases. As part of the comprehensive development, new streets and infrastructure will be constructed to enhance the overall functionality and accessibility of the site.
