Morning Sun Senior Lofts

Mistick Construction recently completed Morning Sun Senior Lofts, a LIHTC-funded redevelopment transforming the historic East Vandergrift Elementary School into senior housing. The project involved rehabilitating the 1934 school building into 17 apartments and constructing a new three-story adjoining building, bringing the total to 42 units for residents aged 62 and older.

Severe structural deterioration required extensive rebuilding, but the design preserves the school’s historic character—including its distinctive sunburst entrance. The project offers a variety of apartment layouts, spacious common areas, and meets 2020 Enterprise Green Communities and Energy Star for Multi-Family Homes standards.
