Projects > Widows' Home
The historic Widows' Home was built in 1843 for use as an orphanage and was later used as a home for widows who had lost their husbands in the Civil War. Mistick Construction Company has been selected to serve as the contractor for the Widow's Home's $3.7 million renovation.
The 24 units in the Widows' Home are comprised of both apartments (650 square feet) and townhomes (1000 square feet) to serve a wide range of household sizes and incomes. Features of the Widows' Home rennovation projects will include twelve foot ceilings, and new HVAC systems and kitchens, and a community room.
We are proud to have the Widows' Home featured in the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh's (URA) 2005-2006 Accomplishments Report. (read excerpt)
