Longwood at Oakmont
Longwood at Oakmont is one of Western Pennsylvania's largest full-service continuing care retirement communities. After completing an award-winning Alzheimer care unit several years ago, Mistick Construction recently returned to the campus to build phase three: a new 75-unit independent living building, a 30-unit assisted living building, and a renovated health care center. The $17 million project included extensive site development and major improvements to fully functioning common areas and dining facilities.
Mistick gave top priority to communications and strict safety policies in order to minimize the impact of the 20-month construction on current residents. Mistick's project management staff and safety director worked hand-in-hand with site administrators and the project architect to protect residents and keep them informed during each phase of construction.
The project successfully increased the variety of available units and seamlessly integrated new construction and interior renovations into the community.
The new three-story independent living building features a 100-car garage built under landscaped terraces as well as a library, chapel, meeting space and computer room among other amenities.
Improvements to common areas included a renovated grille room, which Mistick completed in only 30 days, and an updated kitchen, which the company kept in full operation serving residents during construction
